Bolton want to sign Bradford City striker and former Burton Albion midfielder

Bolton Wanderers are trying to sign Bradford City target man Charlie Wyke and former Burton Albion midfielder Hope Akpan, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Phil Parkinson is looking to bolster his squad even more this summer as he is targeting Bradford City’s main man Charlie Wyke and former Burton Albion midfielder Hope Akpan.

Alan Nixon tweeted “BOLTON. Keen on Hope Akpan on a free and even looking at ways of buying Charlie Wyke from Bradford. That won’t be easy.”

If Phil Parkinson could pull the signing of Charlie Wyke off, it would certainly be a coup for Bolton but it won’t be easy bringing the target man to the club. Wyke scored 15 goals in 40 appearances last campaign.

Hope Akpan would be a shrewd piece of business from Parkinson. He’s a young but experienced midfielder he would work tirelessly in midfielder for Bolton. Last season, Akpan played 26 games and scored twice.

About Bradford City’s Charlie Wyke –

Wyke has quickly established himself as a fans’ favourite at Bradford after the Bantams signed him from League Two side Carlisle United on transfer deadline day in January 2017. He is a Middlesbrough academy graduate, but he never made a first team appearance and after loan stints at Kettering, Hartlepool United and AFC Wimbledon, he signed for Carlisle United on a free transfer in January 2015.

About former Burton Albion midfielder, Hope Akpan –

A strong physical presence in midfield, Akpan has played in all four divisions of English football since leaving boyhood club Everton in 2011. After leaving Everton his next club was Crawley Town in League 2 playing his part as the Red Devils won promotion from League 2. Reading swooped in to take Hope to the Madejski Stadium offering a return to the Premier League in January 2013.

After two years at Reading Hope moved to Blackburn Rovers on a two-year deal and over the last two years has played 60 times in the Championship scoring four times from his midfield role. After a disrupted 2016/17 season at Ewood Park Hope was released following Blackburn Rovers relegation to League One, Nigel Clough making his move to add Hope’s strength and skill to his midfield options.
