Stoke City forward could move to Dutch giants in shock deal

The Stoke Sentinel have reported that striker Saido Berahino has been the subject of some unexpected interest from Dutch giants, PSV Eindhoven and Feyernoord despite the fact he has struggled for form with the Potters during the last year.

The striker has failed to score for Stoke City since joining up with the Potters in 2016 and has struggled to capture form – however there is the chance for him to reignite his career with both PSV and Feyernoord supposedly keen on a season-long loan deal for the forward.

Berahino became hot property during the 2014/15 season when he scored 14 goals in 38 Premier League matches for West Brom and was then linked with a big-money move away from the Hawthorns.

The striker is looking to get his career back on track and it’s thought that both Dutch teams want to give him the opportunity to play regular football and to gain some confidence back in his game, to become the prolific striker that he once was.

The Stoke Sentinel suggested the striker met with manager Gary Rowett about his future at the club and Rowett said to the paper:

“It’s not something I ordered, he wanted to see me. He came in during his free time and I’ve had a good conversation with him.

“He’s given me some of his frustrations and I’ve outlined where I see things.

“I think sometimes in that scenario it’s not just the manager you’ve got to try to impress, but also the rest of the group, that’s the biggest thing.

“Saido’s gone away knowing that there’s certain things he needs to do and certain things I think I can help him with.

“But ultimately it will be down to him. He will get the same chance as everyone else, but he will have to show everybody that he’s prepared to do what it takes to get into the team.

“Just like any player will have to do when they come into the building.”

It remains to be seen whether Berahino will look to stick with Stoke City for the upcoming season in he Championship but a move overseas could give the striker the fresh start he’s needed since he began struggling for form up-front.
