Derby County are being linked with a move for Hertha Berlin forward Salomon Kalou, according to Derbyshire Live.
The new Rams boss, Frank Lampard, knows Kalou well from their time at Chelsea together and is now keen on bringing him to Pride Park this summer.
Derby are looking to bounce back from their Play-Off disappointment from last season and are hoping to compete at the top end of the Championship. Signing Kalou would be a statement of intent by them.
The 32-year-old currently plays in the Bundesliga for Hertha Berlin and has played for them since 2014. He scored 12 goals for them last season and is considered as a key player for them. However, Lampard is hoping to persuade him to join his newly inherited Derby side.
Kalou has made 97 caps for Ivory Coast and is a vastly experienced forward. He started his career at Feyenoord in the Eredivisie and scored 35 goals in 67 appearances for them before he snapped up by Chelsea for around £9 million.
Kalou played alongside Lampard at Chelsea for six years and they won the Premier League title together in 2010 and also won the FA Cup four times, the League Cup once and the Champions League in 2012. The Ivorian forward then left Chelsea in July 2012 on a free transfer to join French Ligue 1 side Lille.
He spent two seasons at Lille and scored a combined 34 goals in his time there, which earned him a move to Hertha Berlin. Kalou has got a decent goal scoring record in his career and would be a great signing for Derby County.
