Middlesbrough’s to launch new kit this week

Middlesbrough’s new kit will be released on Thursday 14th June at 6pm, as confirmed by new kit manufacturers Hummel via Twitter.

Middlesbrough’s up and coming kit for the 2018/19 campaign will be revealed tomorrow evening. The new strip has seen Boro end their association with Adidas, who have been affiliated with the club since the 2009/10 season.

Middlesbrough will instead be manufactured by Hummel, who made the iconic strip worn by the side in 1986/87. At that time, the club had just gone through a period of liquidation and was revived by now-Chairman Steve Gibson and a consortium.

Hummel tweeted ‘#thefabricof86 returns to Teesside next season’, when they originally announced their collaboration with Middlesbrough for next season, and will be hoping for similar effects on the pitch. Boro were promoted from the second division and up into the Premier League the last time Hummel made their shirts.

On Hummel’s official Twitter page, they also posted a number of teasers for the upcoming kit launch. One image showed the Middlesbrough badge positioned next to the hummel logo, and another appears to show a close up of the Middlesbrough shirt with white trademark Hummel chevrons.

The shirt will also see last year’s shirt sponsor Ramsdens Currency be placed on the back of the shirt as opposed to the front. The local business signed a brand new two year deal with the club earlier this month.

The shirt sponsor for the front of the shirt however, will be online casino 32Red, who have previously donned the fronts of shirts up and down the country. 32Red have previously sponsored Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crawley Town, Rangers and Leeds United, and will add Middlesbrough to the list next season.
