Potential spanner in the works for Leeds as six time league champions chase managerial target

Leeds United have been on the verge of appointing Argentinian manager Marcelo Bielsa for a number of days now, but still nothing has happened.

Just when it seems that the former Athletic Bilbao and Marseille manager is about to become Leeds’ new manager, something significant happens and it is delayed.

That appears to have happeened yet again, with reports from Mexico suggesting that Mexican top flight side C.F. Pachuca have held talks with Bielsa about him potentially becoming their new manager.

Noticias Del Sol De La Laguna, a popular Mexican news outlet, have reported that the Mexican club’s president has been in contact with Bielsa in recent days, as they search for a replacement for former manager Diego Alonso.

Andres Fassi is the Mexican side’s president, as HITC reports that he has met with Marcelo Bielsa himself in order to ‘sound him out.’

Claims that the two have met will be supported by the fact that Bielsa was in Mexico last weekend for a conference, before he returned to his native South America.

C.F Pachuca are one of Mexico’s most successful sides, having won Liga MX six times, with the most recent coming back in 2016.

It remains unclear exactly what the future holds for Marcelo Bielsa. Earlier today, the72 reported that he was set to become the new Leeds United manager in the coming hours, but still nothing has happened.

The Argentine manager has been Leeds’ first choice manager ever since they sacked former boss Paul Heckingbottom back on June 01.
