Premier League side Burnley have launched a £25 million double bid for West Bromwich Albion duo Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez, according to Lancashire Telegraph.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche has both West Brom stars Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez high on his shopping list this summer as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season and Europe.
But the Baggies have no intentions of selling two of their biggest assets for so cheap, and will reportedly reject the bid.
Although it’s a danger to West Brom that they could lose these two players this summer, but the defender has two years left on his contract and Rodriguez has three, putting Albion in a strong position while negotiating with Burnley.
Defensive improvements are key for Burnley and Dyche and will have the club progress from last year, with the Clarets getting by with just three central defenders in James Tarkowski, Ben Mee and Kevin Long.
There is believed to be plenty of competition to sign Jay Rodriguez, who netted 11 goals last season despite West Brom being relegated to the Championship.
But teams like West Ham, Bournemouth, who enjoyed his best moments at Turf Moor under Cherries boss Eddie Howe and Crystal Palace could put bids in for the Burnley Academy graduate, although it is believed he wants to return to Burnley, where he began his career.
The Baggies have already lost key man Jonny Evans at centre-back this summer, following his £3.5m move to Leicester.
Dawson has blossomed into a confident and composed Premier League defender since joining West Brom from Rochdale eight years ago.
The former England under-21 international has more than 150 top-flight appearances and is a versatile defender who can play either right-back or centre-back.
But this would be a smart move from Dyche as these two would be quality additions to his side.
