Nottingham Forest ‘in talks’ with Aston Villa defender

According to Journalist John Percy of the Telegraph, Nottingham Forest are reportedly in talks with and are looking to sign Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton in the coming days.

The Scottish defender could be set to swap Villa Park for the City Ground on a two-year-deal after Forest reportedly offered Hutton the chance to make the move to Nottingham Forest when he becomes a free agent during the next month.

Hutton has been with Aston Villa since 2011 and has made 149 appearances for the club, however, he seems to be deemed surplus to requirements at Villa Park and looks set to leave the club during the next month.

Aitor Karanka’s project at Nottingham Forest has seen the club attempt to begin a huge overhaul of players and to bring in the personnel capable of mustering a promotion challenge for one of the sleeping giants of English football.

Hutton would be a strong statement of intent for the Championship side with the 33-year-old having both Premier League and International experience at full-back, particularly given the fact that Hutton has played the majority of his career in both the English and Scottish top-flight with Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

We’ll see in the coming days if Hutton decided to sign a deal with Forest, but it would send out a strong signal of intent to the rest of the Championship that the Reds mean business.
