Swansea, West Ham bid for Swansea City duo rejected

West Ham bid for Swansea City duo rejected

Sky Bet Championship side Swansea City have rejected bids from West Ham United for their goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and central defender Alfie Mawson, according to a report from the BBC.

Both players look set to leave the club this summer following their relegation from the Premier League, but West Ham’s bid for the duo has failed to match Swansea’s valuation of the players, and has therefore been rejected.

BBC Sport have reported that the fee has not been disclosed, but that the Welsh side are not willing to let either player leave for a cheap fee despite the fact that they are now a second tier club.

Swansea City’s stay in the top flight was ended on the final weekend of the Premier League season, with a defeat at home to already relegated Stoke City condemning them to the Sky Bet Championship.

To make matters worse for the Swans, their Welsh rivals Cardiff City have gone the other way, and will now be a division above them when the 2018/19 season starts.

Swansea City are currently without a manager, but are edging ever closer to appointing Graham Potter, and personal terms have been agreed between the two.

Potter is said to want to review the whole squad before making decisions on any players who may leave the club.

That being said, certain players have already confirmed their desire to move. Back in May, Lukasz Fabianski told the club that he wanted to leave after their relegation to the second tier was confirmed.
