European giants want to steal Marcelo Biesla off Leeds United

European club Sporting CP are highly interesting in stealing Marcelo Biesla off Leeds United at last minute, according to a report. This would be awful for news for Leeds United as they would have to start their managerial search all over again.

Sporting CP are a giant club in Portugal. Despite finishing third last season and qualifying for the UEFA Europa League, it wasn’t good enough for Sporting CP and now they find themselves manager-less. Biesla has plenty of experience in the Europa League and he even guided Athletic Bilbao to the Europa League final a few years ago.

Biesla seems to be both Leeds United’s and Sporting CP’s ideal first choice manager but, of course, only one club can get their man. With a serious title challenge on the cards, European football and a big transfer budget on offer, the obvious choice seems to be going to Portugal. But given Leeds United and Marcelo Biesla have been in negotiation for weeks now and he might snub the move to Sporting and decide to stick to his guns and choose the West Yorkshire club.

Following both clubs poor showings last season, both clubs have massive re-building seasons ahead of them and both need to get a new manager in to their clubs ASAP to have the best chance of re-building successfully. Whether Biesla chooses Leeds or Lisbon as his next destination one club will end up with an uphill struggle on their hands going into pre-season and the new campaign.
