Key Aston Villa player not looking for summer transfer

According to Birmingham Live, Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah is happy to stay at the club. The 30-year-old was the top scorer at Villa Park last season, but he is more than content to remain with Steve Bruce’s side.

Several key men have been touted with summer departures from Aston Villa following their Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final defeat to Fulham. The club are ongoing with some big financial concerns, meaning that players will have to be sold. Adomah however is not wanting to be one of those, with reports suggesting he is settled in the area and at the club.

Adomah netted 15 times last season, scoring four more than Conor Hourihane, who was their second-highest scorer. Therefore, he is clearly deemed an important player for Bruce, whose future has also been a talking point following their Wembley setback.

Jack Grealish headlines those that have major interest from the Premier League. There would surely be some interested suitors in that division for Adomah too, given the impact he demonstrated last season. Whilst the club need to raise around £40million in player sales, Adomah wants to stay put. Talks had began on possibly signing a new contract before the play-off final. Given their financial issues, those talks are set to be put on hold for now at least. The Ghana international is certainly a big favourite in the eyes of the Aston Villa supporters.

Captain John Terry left following the 1-0 loss to Fulham. He was the highest earner at the football club. Long-serving Gabby Agbonlahor was another to earn a large salary, but he has been out of favour for some time, and Bruce won’t have lost too much sleep knowing he is no longer on the books.
