Chelsea join the race for £16 million rated West Brom striker

Chelsea have joined the race for West Brom striker Salomon Rondon, according to The Mirror.

West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on bringing the forward back to the Premier League this summer. He has a £16 million buy-out clause following the Baggies’ relegation from the top flight last season.

The new West Brom boss, Darren Moore, is hopeful of keeping the core of his squad together as he looks to prepare for a promotion push for the upcoming campaign. However, he may have to resign to losing Rondon as there is a lot of interest in him.

Rondon managed 28 goals in three seasons in the Premier League for West Brom. He joined the Baggies in 2015 from Zenit for around £12 million and turned out to be a key player for them.

The Venezuelan started his career with Aragua before moving to Las Palmas in 2008. He spent two seasons in the Spanish second tier and earned himself a move to Malaga in 2010. It was on the Costa Del Sol where Rondon made his name and he scored 27 goals in 72 games for the Spanish side.

He was then signed by Russian giants Rubin Kazan in 2012 for £15.8 million.  The 28-year-old then bagged combined 25 goals in two seasons and was signed by Zenit. Rondon then spent two-and-a-half years with them, maintaining his decent goal scoring form in Russia, before opting for a fresh challenge in England.

Salomon Rondon has a great goal scoring record and would set the Championship alight. However, there will be a lot of clubs in for him this summer.
