Aston Villa manager still uncertain over future

Steve Bruce’s future as Aston Villa manager appears to be in jeopardy as the former Hull City boss has yet to be given assurances going forward with the club, according to The Telegraph.

Bruce failed to guide the club back to the Premier League at the second attempt, as the Villains lost 1-0 to Fulham in the Playoff Final at Wembley.

It is understood that Bruce has not been informed if the club’s hierarchy want him to continue as manager of the football club next season.

There is all sorts of financial confusion surrounding the club at the moment, with rumours surfacing that current owner Dr Tony Xia would sell the club if the right offer came in.

Bruce has already stated that he wants to remain in charge of the club next season, but the Villains may look elsewhere after Bruce’s unsuccessful attempt at promotion.

He joined the club in October 2016, replacing Roberto Di Matteo as manager of the Midlands club.

He has won promotion to the Premier League more times than any other, but his failure to do so in two consecutive seasons is a concern for Villa bosses.

Due to the financial concern at Villa Park, there is a slim chance that Bruce could walk away if he is forced to sell his star players in order to balance the books.

Villa have used the parachute payments from the Premier League to support them during their time in the second tier, however they can not use that money to support them next season.

As things stand, Villa will struggle to meet Financial Fair Play rules and it could get worse for them if Bruce walks away from the club. However, the manager could face the sack after the post-season meetings with the Villa bosses.

Either way, it seems that his time with the Villains could be in peril.
