Abel Hernandez tweet sends Leeds fans into overdrive

It looks very much like Abel Hernandez is on the brink of announcing where he will be playing his football next season and Leeds United fans are hoping that it’s at Elland Road. There is an offer on the table and Leeds are confident, but is it enough?

Hernandez confirmed he was leaving Hull City last week but Leeds aren’t the only club chasing the Uruguay international striker. Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and a host of Turkish clubs are rumoured to be keen on the player and all of them, bar Aston Villa it would seem, are in a very good financial situation. In terms of finances they are all above Leeds United in the pecking order but Leeds believe what they have offered is a good deal.

Hernandez is a prolific striker at this level and if fit he is arguably the in the top three in the Championship. His future has been much discussed and Leeds decided he was the number one target for the vacant strikers position left by Chris Wood, and temporarily filled by Pierre-Michel Lasogga who flopped last season. The club had agreed to sign Jerry Mbakogu before pulling out of the deal and trying to secure a deal for Abel Hernandez. Leeds fans were delighted with the news and it’s been a waiting game since.

The tweet from Hernandez doesn’t reveal much but what it does probably tell us is that he is about to announce something regarding his future. If he ends up in Turkey or at Wolves we wouldn’t be surprised but there would be a huge feeling of disappointment at the club amongst fans and probably the hierarchy. We would rather know one way or anther, and let’s just hope Jerry Mbakogu isn’t the plan b if this isn’t the outcome we want.
