World Cup winner in the running for Leeds United job

Reports last month had suggested that Inzaghi, who is currently in charge of Serie B side Venezia, had been approached by Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani to become the new manager, but nothing came of it.

However, his name is being mentioned again following the sacking of Paul Heckingbottom, with the former Juventus and AC Milan striker being given odds of 25/1 to become the next manager at Elland Road.

Heckingbottom last his job at the helm on June 01 after weeks of speculation about his future. The former Barnsley boss only joined the club in March, but failed to turn around their fortunes and he has ultimately paid the price with the loss of his job.

Former Athletic Bilbao manager Marcelo Biesla is currently the clear favourite to become the next manager of Leeds United, with odds of 1/5, but if things fall through with the Argentinian, it could be worth investing some money on Filippo Inzaghi.

Whilst his playing career speaks for itself, with two Champions Leagues and a World Cup winners medal, he has had a rather successful managerial career so far.

He started his career in management at former club AC Milan, showing his capabilities to manage big personalities and deliver in front of demanding fans.

Inzaghi then moved to current club Venezia, earning them promotion from the Italian third tier in his first season in charge, before winning the Coppa Italia Lega Pro later that season.

He enjoyed more success in the 2017/18 campaign, guiding Venezia to the Serie B Play-Offs and leaving them on the brink of top flight football.
