Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke City and Reading in chase for Sochaux striker

Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke City and Reading are all chasing the signature of Sochaux’s Moussa Sao according to a report from The Sun.

The 28-year-old striker, who was born in France but is looking to get a call up to the Senegal national squad, signed for Sochaux back in 2015 but it appears that he will soon be leaving the club. His contract is set to expire in the summer and after scoring nine goals in 68 appearances for the Ligue 2 team, it appears that his time with them is up.

And now according to this report his agent is preparing for an influx of offers from England. Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke and Reading are all said to interested in Sao and grabbing a potential bargain this summer. Even though his score rate for a striker isn’t very impressive, and it wasn’t that great for previous side Le Havre either, all of these teams believe that he has something which will improve their side ahead of what is going to be a tough season in the Sky Bet Championship.

One quirk about Sao is that he did not get to professional football the usual way. He is one of an increasing amount of players who started off playing futsal before being given a chance to play the 11-a-side game. He had played for the French national side before Le Havre gave him a contract and a shot to see if he could make it on an outdoor field. And now with a move to the Championship beckoning, it’s fair to say it was worth changing sports.
