Five potential candidates to replace Paul Heckingbottom at Leeds United

Paul Heckingbottom is leaving Leeds United according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon. Here are five potential candidates to replace him-

Marcelo Bielsa- The 62-year-old boss is the frontrunner for the Whites’ job. He has previously managed Newell’s Old Boys, Atlas, Club América, Vélez Sarsfield, Espanyol, Argentina, Chile, Atletico Bilbao, Marseille, Lazio and Lille in a lengthy managerial career. He has been out of work since December 2017 but could make the move to the Leeds United over the coming weeks.

Claudio Ranieri- He is available after leaving FC Nantes at the end of the season. His best achievement in his career was leading Leicester City to the Premier League title against all odds in 2016. Ranieri is an option for Leeds but it appears that Bielsa is the most likely candidate.

Filippo Inzaghi, Venezia- The 44-year-old Italian is another big name to be linked with Leeds United over the past couple of weeks. After playing for the likes of Parma, Atalanta, AC Milan and Juventus in his playing days, he has gone into management with spells at Milan Primavera, AC Milan and now Venezia.

Michael Laudrup, Al-Rayyan- He currently manages in Qatar and another whose name has been mentioned. He managed Swansea City in the Premier League from 2012 to 2014 and won the League Cup with them. Laudrup has also previously managed Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow, Mallorca and Lekhwiya.

Mick McCarthy- The former Millwall, Republic of Ireland, Sunderland, Wolves and Ipswich Town manager is an outsider for the Leeds United job but will be way down the pecking order behind all the other names being mentioned.
