Rangers keen on a move for Sheffield Wednesday striker

Rangers are chasing out of favour Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes, according to The Sheffield Star.

The Scottish international has struggled for form since his move to Hillsborough and he is now being chased by the Scottish side.

Rhodes joined the Owls during the January transfer window in 2017, moving from Middlesborough for £8m.

In 56 appearances for the club, the striker has hit just ten goals and his found himself out of favour under manager Jos Luhukay.

He has found goals particularly hard to come by this season, and has only one goal since Boxing Day.

Rangers have recently announced that Steven Gerrard will be the clubs new manager and the former Liverpool man will officially join the Gers on Friday.

Rangers will be looking for a resurgence under Gerrard and they will be one of the only clubs with the financial power to complete a deal for the former Huddersfield man.

Wednesday have a strong strike force at Hillsborough and the recent good form of Atdhe Nuhiu has kept Rhodes out of the sde.

Rhodes was the clubs fourth top scorer in the league this season behind Nuhiu, Lucas Joao, and Gary Hooper.

Luhukay may decide to offload Wednesday’s record signing in a bid to bolster his squad in other areas.

The 28 year old is now at a point in his career where he needs to start playing regular first team football again, and that may not come in Sheffield.

He would be an excellent signing for Rangers and would help close the gap between the Gers and rivals Celtic.
