Fulham join Newcastle United in race to get the keys to a Ferrari

Fulham have joined Newcastle United in the race to sign Gian Marco Ferrari according to a report from Italian publication Calcio Mercato.

The Cottagers will be back in the Premier League next season after they beat Aston Villa 1-0 in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final. But if they want to make it a long stay in the top tier, they are going to need to strengthen their squad further. And they are doing exactly that as they are looking to sign an Italian defender that has already attracted plenty of attention on these shores.

Ferrari is currently contracted to Sassuolo but he has played all across Italy having appeared for the likes of Crotone, Gubbio and Renate. He was once on the books of Parma but he never played for them. He also didn’t make any appearances for Sassuolo last season as he ended up moving on loan to Sampdoria where he played well for them as they missed out on a spot in the Europa League places.

But if Fulham want to be able to sign this 26-year-old defender, they are going to have to fend off some of their new Premier League rivals. Reports have said that Newcastle United are also interested in signing Ferrari and the fact that they are already established in the Premier League may give them the advantage in the race to sign him. But with Fulham having a bright future under head coach Slavisa Jokanovic they may be able to tempt him to head to West London.
