Stoke City £6.3m rated winger closing on Premier League stay

According to his agent Nader Shawky, in words spoken to Egyptian radio station Mega FM and carried by a number of sites, Stoke winger Ramadan Sobhi will not likely drop to the Championship with the Potters.

Even back as far as early April it seemed to be clear that Sobhi would likely move on from Stoke, with the Stoke Sentinel carrying the words of Shawky who’d said “I have four offers from Premier League clubs for Ramadan” – offers that didn’t make it to the club themselves.

However, websites such as KingFut are carrying a similar set of words with a similar sentiment from Shawky who now says: “Ramadan is close from staying in the Premier League and he received offers from league clubs.”

Sobhi’s agent then goes on to say that should a stay in England not prove then there are other options for his client. Shawky then goes on to elaborate on these saying: “In case he didn’t stay in England, the player will move to another club in Spain, Italy or Germany.

Sobhi arrived at then-Premier League stoke City in late July 2016 and has featured in 41 top-tier games for Stoke, scoring just two goals and providing just two assists – both goals coming this season.

A drop to the Sky Bet Championship, which is a physical and demanding league might not fit with the international aspirations of a player like Ramadan Sobhi, who is part of Egypt’s World Cup squad for Russia 2018. He has 24 caps for Egypt stretching back to his 23-minute début in 2015 against Tanzania in the African Cup of Nations.
