Oztumer, Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End in chase for Walsall star

Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End in chase for Walsall star

Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Bradford City and Preston North End are in a chase to sign Walsall’s Erhun Oztumer according to a report from HITC Sport.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been a star player for Walsall ever since he signed for them in 2016 from Peterborough United. He has often been one of their best players and the fans dubbed him the Turkish Messi due to the ability and skill he showed in matches. This season he scored 17 goals in 50 appearances, marking himself out as one of the best players in Sky Bet League One.

But his time at Walsall is set to come to an end. His contract is expiring this summer and while the Saddlers have offered him a new deal, Oztumer has turned it down so he can move to a new team. This has piqued the interest of a lot of teams that want to get the signature of one of League One’s best players. In this report four teams are in the chase to sign him with Blackburn, Bolton, Bradford and Preston all looking to sign him.

Blackburn have been interested in signing Oztumer for a while now so it’s no surprise to see them going back in for him now that he is a free agent. Both Bolton and Preston are looking to improve their positions in the Sky Bet Championship and adding a potential X Factor like Oztumer could be a big boost to their plans. Bradford are the only League One team in the race and that could be a disadvantage with Oztumer having so many options from the tier above.
