Leeds United defender Tom Pearce is set to sign a new contract with the club, according to Leeds Live. They also dismissed rumours of Premier League clubs making bids for the highly-rated left back.
Both AFC Bournemouth and Everton have been touted as potential interested parties of the 20-year-old, who is out of contract at Elland Road. Despite this, he is believed to be primed to sign a new contract, that he was recently offered, on his return from England international duty. This will serve as great news for Leeds, with Pearce deemed a future star in the making.
Despite rumours of a possible £2million offer from Eddie Howe’s side for the youngster, he is to remain a Leeds player. He is currently away with the Under-21 side at the Toulon Tournament. England began the competition with a hard-earned 2-1 victory over China a few days ago. Pearce made five appearances in the Leeds first team last season, all under Paul Heckingbottom, after injuries propelled him up the playing order.
Earlier on, it seemed inevitable he would leave after his contract expired, but he impressed, and is set to stay on. Whilst it is yet to be signed by the player, an agreement is in place, and that will be signed once he is officially finished with England duty. Bournemouth have a history of signing impressive young talents in recent seasons, so this link is of no real surprise. Everton are currently managerless, so any possible signing they make is not expected until an appointment is made. This is expected to be ex-Watford boss Marco Silva.
