Fulham have been promoted to the Premier League after a 1-0 win over Aston Villa at Wembley yesterday.
Tom Cairney’s neatly slotted goal midway through the first-half was enough to earn the Cottagers a famous win at the national stadium. Slavisa Jokanovic’s side had Dennis Odoi sent off in the second half but managed to hold on despite pressure from Aston Villa.
Ryan Fredericks was lucky to stay on the pitch in the first half after appearing to stand on Villa’s Jack Grealish. However, Grealish was then booked in the second half for a foul on Cairney which easily could have been a red as well.
Fulham fans can now celebrate their return to the Premier League after an impressive season under Jokanovic. His side got to the Play-Offs in the last campaign but lost to Reading in the Semi-Finals. They have bounced back from that disappointment in style this season.
The win is also crucial for the Cottagers as it means they have a better chance of holding onto their star players like Ryan Sessegnon, Tom Cairney and Ryan Fredericks. It will also give them a increased chance of landing Alexsander Mitrovic on a permanent basis from Newcastle United.
Here is how Fulham fans reacted on Twitter to their promotion-
Good Morning Everyone. Did that really happen last night for Fulham and was I there to experience it? The answer is “YES” and it is a moment I will remember for the rest of my life.
Thank you to the Fulham supporters who came up to me to say hello. It means so much. #FFC pic.twitter.com/K8vYK9Snq2

One of our greatest managers. Has everything you'd want – passion, focus, vision, drive, & a desire to innovate & keep improving. Said this week he wants a career like Wenger. Well you are welcome to spend 20 years at Fulham. The best is yet to come. #ffchttps://t.co/aMrVMt4F8O
