Italian media have claimed that Leeds United have made an approach for ex-Italy international Filippo Inzaghi. The news comes with current head-coach Paul Heckingbottom on holiday and no news on his future at the football club. There has since been news that this isn’t the case, but nobody really knows what to make of it.
Inzaghi is currently the manager of Venezia in Italy and it was claimed Leeds had sounded him out to be the new head-coach of the club. It has been the feeling around Elland Road that Heckingbottom would get his chance, the stories that there is an issue of which way to go with recruitment doesn’t really add up because Leeds are currently chasing three players that are better than any we have had in those positions for some time.
Leeds United latest: No foundation to strange Filippo Inzaghi links in Italy. Never looked at and seemingly off to Bologna. #lufc https://t.co/54KoC3eiGH pic.twitter.com/sYZpW7s0Zx

Heckingbottom is currently on holiday and the thought that he may not know his future, or that he would have left without knowing doesn’t seem realistic. Heckingbottom for me would have wanted to know one way or another where his future lies and I think he will get the chance to take us on going forward. As much as I don’t think Heckingbottom has done very well at all, it just doesn’t sit right with me that he would get the sack before he has been able to bring in any new players, even if he isn’t the one choosing them.
Hecky has been under pressure since a disappointing run of results when he took over and he began to chop and change to find out who he wanted going into next season. He actually created a very good Barnsley team before it was dismantled and you have to think that with better players he may be able to get us going. Maybe the club have decided on someone else and if that was Inzaghi then he would bring a personality and leadership with him, although tactically I don’t really know what he’s like.
