Earlier today, it was confirmed that Jack Ross had left Scottish side St Mirren to join Sunderland, and become the Black Cats’ new manager.
For a long time, it seemed that Ross was heading south of the border, but to join Sky Bet Championship side Ipswich Town. However, he has instead opted to move to Sunderland, who will be playing in the third tier of English football next season following back to back relegations.
The Scottish manager led St Mirren to the Scottish Championship title last season, earning them promotion to the Scottish Premier League, and earning Jack Ross the Scottish Manager of the Year Award.
Speaking to the club’s official website about his move to the North East club, Jack Ross was very excited to get started.
He said: “It’s a fantastic honour because I understand the magnitude of the job and the size of the club. Probably the biggest attraction is the potential of the club, as well the fans and history, but that potential to hopefully take it back through the leagues again is one that really excites me.”
Sunderland fans were quick to take to Twitter once the news of Ross’ appointment had been confirmed. Here is a quick look at what some of them had to say:
I mean…I guess that is also a bonus…
