Bolton confirm seven first-team players are to leave

Sky Bet Championship outfit Bolton Wanderers have released seven players after their contracts came to an end. They are headlined by the likes of Derik Osede, Jan Kirchhoff and Mark Howard.

Phil Parkinson’s side avoided relegation on the final day of the campaign with a dramatic home victory over Nottingham Forest. He will obviously be keen on Bolton avoiding being in a similar situation again, so he is now busy preparing his squad, and the summer reshuffle has begun in earnest.

Whilst these seven will depart, more names could be added to this list, as Parkinson’s is still ongoing in discussions with some other members of his roster. More shall be known over the next week or so, with some players already away on holiday.

Osede was a regular starter in points of the previous season, playing 20 times. The former Real Madrid man can play at either centre back or as a holding midfielder. Kirchhoff saw his short-term deal end, whilst Howard ended the campaign as second choice behind Ben Alnwick.

Others to depart include Dorian Dervite, with the defender departing the Macron Stadium having been on the books at the club since 2014. He made a total of 99 appearances for the football club. Jem Karacan is exiting, as he revealed himself on social media recently. The final two names are of no real surprise, with out of favour winger Chris Taylor moving on, along with Chinedu Obasi, who signed in March on a pay-as-you-play contract, but failed to make an impact in the first-team picture.
