Wolves, Man United and Liverpool go head to head for Brazilian star

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Brazilian attacking midfielder Anderson Talisca, but they still face competition from a number of Premier League giants for his signature according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Wolves for a number of weeks now, but was reported to favour a permanent move to Besiktas, where he had spent the last two years on loan.

However, as reported by a Portuguese media outlet, the Turkish club have turned down an offer to sign him permanently for £18.3 million, with the reason being financial, rather than any reflection on his performance.

This means that Talisca will return to his parent club Benfica, where his fate will be decided.

As well as Wolves, both Manchester United and Champions League finalists Liverpool are said to be interested in signing him, whilst Champions League semi-finalists Roma have also thrown their name in the hat.

However, the Birmingham Mail reports that Wolves are expected to be among the frontrunners, thanks to the exposure they have received under Nuno Santo.

The Portuguese manager is likely to have a positive impact on any dealings with Portuguese clubs, which could put them ahead of their rivals when trying to sign Talisca from Benfica.

Talisca has never played for his native Brazil before, and he had been hoping for a call-up for this summer’s World Cup in Russia, but he has missed out on a place in the squad, despite scoring 19 goals this season.
