Cheltenham complete signing of Bristol Rovers player

Cheltenham have signed Ryan Broom on a free transfer from Bristol Rovers.

The right midfielder was released by Rovers but he has immediately found a new club in League 2 Cheltenham.

All Broom’s playing career has been spent at Bristol Rovers, who gave the player his professional debut at the club. He was sent out on loan to several different clubs, the most recent being Eastleigh during the 2017/18 season.

However, the player shall be plying his trade in League 2 rather than the National League in the next campaign.

Boss Gary Johnson is a big admirer of the player and told the club website: “I’ve always been really impressed when I’ve watched Ryan play so we are very pleased that he will join us next season.

“Ryan is a midfield player with real energy to his game. He is quick, strong and the exactly the right type of character that we want in the squad for next season. He has been at Bristol Rovers for almost a decade, since joining the Academy as a youngster, and both myself and Darrell Clarke feel it is time for Ryan to play regular first team football. We are delighted to give him that opportunity.”

With the player having played for three different non-league sides on loan, he’ll no doubt relish a chance to play for the Robins in League 2 on a permanent basis.

With Ryan Broom making the move to the club, he becomes Cheltenham’s third signing of the transfer window with Johnny Mullins and Alex Addai.
