Bristol City announce departure of four first-team players

Luke Steele, Scott Golbourne, Gary O’Neil and Arnold Garita will leave Bristol City next month, as confirmed by their official website.

The Robins are preparing for next season as they look to push for the Play-Off places in the Championship and will let four first-team players leave at the expiry of their contract next month.

Luke Steele joined Bristol City last month on a free transfer. The experienced goalkeeper has played 10 games in all competitions for the Robins this season but is going to move on now meaning they will be in the hunt for a new back-up ‘keeper for the next campaign.

Steele has previously had spells at Peterborough United, Manchester United, West Brom, Coventry City, Barnsley and Panathanaikos. He is a decent free agent option for Football League clubs.

Left-back Scott Golbourne will follow him out the exit door of Ashton Gate. The 30-year-old has spent this season on loan at League One side MK Dons and will now be looking for a new club for the next campaign.

The experienced Gary O’Neil has played for the Robins since 2016. He has previously played for Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, West Ham, QPR and Norwich City. The 34-year-old will now become available this summer.

Arnold Garita is the fourth player to be announced that is leaving. The 22-year-old striker had fallen down the pecking order with Bristol City and spent last season on loan at Plymouth Argyle.
