Oxford sign goalkeeper to new deal at club

Oxford goalkeeper Simon Eastwood has penned a new deal at the club.

The goalkeeper is a key player for the U’s and the club and manager Karl Robinson are delighted to see him agree to a new contract with the Sky Bet League 1 side.

The 28-year old is so important to Oxford that he has played in over 100 games for the U’s and also featured in a total of 52 games in all competitions for the club in the 2017/18 campaign.

In the Sky Bet League 1 table, the club placed in 16th place and Karl Robinson’s first order of business has been to tie the goalkeeper down to a new deal. The new contract sees him commit to the club for three more seasons.

The 28-year old said to the club’s website: “It’s a club I think is heading in the right direction again and the new manager has come in and got everyone excited about the future.

“The fans are great, my family are settled here and it was an easy decision to make.”

Eastwood also played for Oxford back in the 2010/11 season before joining Halifax. After playing for Portsmouth and Blackburn, he then made his move back to the U’s, where he has since featured in all of their league games since that transfer.

Boss Karl Robinson was also full of praise for the goalkeeper calling the 28-year old “the best player in the division” on the club’s website.

Eastwood started his playing career at Huddersfield Town, where he played in just one game for the club.
