Leeds United eyeing up experienced youth international

Leeds United are interested in signing Venezia midfielder Leo Stulac, according to reports coming out of Italy (via Inside Futbol).

Sport Italia reports that the 23-year-old is attracting interest from Calcio A side Genoa, but that he may be tempted by Leeds United, as it is one of his aspirations to play in England.

Stulac’s contract at Venezia, who play in the second tier in Italy, expires this summer, and he has decided not to renew his stay with the Italian side.

This has attracted the attention from a number of clubs, with Leeds said to be extremely interested in bringing the soon-to-be free agent to the club.

However, Genoa are said to hold the advantage in the pursuit of the former Slovenian youth international.

Inside Futbol reports that Leo Stulac has an excellent relationship with the Genoa Sporting Director Giorgio Perinetti, who was the man responsible for the midfielder’s move to Italy in the first place.

Because of this, it is expected that they are in the driving seat when it comes to getting a deal for the midfielder.

Stulac’s career began in his native Slovenia, before earning a move to Italy back in 2016. He has been a regular in the Venezia side this season, playing 20 times in the league as the club push for promotion to Calcio A.

When it comes to international football, Leo Stulac is yet to feature for the senior Slovenian team, but he is experienced at youth level. He has played 32 times in total, for teams ranging from the under 17s to the under 21s.
