German 2. Bundesliga side St Pauli have said that prolific striker Marvin Ducksch will not be leaving this club this summer, despite plenty of interest from around Europe.
One of the teams interested in the front man are Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United, who first registered their interest back in January.
The Yorkshire club are desperate to bring a striker to Elland Road this season following the failings of last summer’s signing Caleb Ekuban.
As well as that, on-loan Pierre-Michel Lasogga has returned to his parent club following his spell at the club.
Goals were a real issue for Leeds United in the 2017/18 season, as they endured a difficult campaign, stumbling to a 13th place finish in the Sky Bet Championship.
Despite their interest in Ducksch, it seems that the German second tier side are not budging, and Leeds will have to look elsewhere.
In an interview with German magazine Kicker (via Inside Futbol), the St Pauli sporting director Uwe Stover said: “With Marvin Ducksch, there is currently no state of affairs other than that he will start training with us from 24th June.”
“We watched his games with Kiel and we talked several times over the course of the season, but not in the last four weeks because of decency.”
When he refers to decency, he means that the club that Ducksch is on loan to, Holstein Kiel, are currently challenging for promotion to Bundesliga.
They face top flight side Wolfsburg in a two-legged Play-Off to decide which team will play in the top flight next season.
After the completion of these games, Marvin Ducksch will return to St Pauli.
