Port Vale sign former Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper

Port Vale have confirmed the signing of Scott Brown on a free transfer after he was released by Wycombe Wanderers.

The goalkeeper is set to leave Wycombe when his contract with the club expires and he has already agreed a deal to join Port Vale when he leaves the newly-promoted League 1 side.

Port Vale boss Neil Aspin has spoken to the club’s website about the signing and said: “Scott is a very experienced goalkeeper having played all 46 league games for Wycombe last season.

“I am delighted we have been able to agree to sign him.”

The 33-year old featured in over 50 games for Gareth Ainsworth’s side during the 2017/18 season and was a key player as part of the side that has managed to get itself promoted.

However, the club have decided to let go of Brown and it means that he’ll be plying his trade in League 2 next campaign.

Brown has a wealth of footballing experience that he can bring to the Port Vale squad, having played in over 300 games during his career.

Over 250 of those appearances came for Cheltenham Town, a team he played for both permanently and on loan. They’re a team that Brown could play against next season, with both Port Vale and Cheltenham playing in League 2.

The goalkeeper also spent some time playing in Scotland for Aberdeen and he has also played for Eastleigh on loan.

All of the playing experience that the goalkeeper has under his belt should help his new club, who won’t want to be at the bottom end of the League 2 table again in the next campaign.
