Championship manager in the running for Swansea job

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has been touted as a potential candidate to replace Carlos Carvalhal as Swansea manager.

The Swans revealed that the former Sheffield Wednesday boss will leave the club at the end of the season, after defeat at Southampton all but sealed their fate.

Although the Swans are not mathematically down, it would take something extraordinary on the final day of the Premier League season to keep them up.

However, it looks like they will be playing their football in England’s second tier next season.

Lee Johnson has gained a lot of praise due to the magnificent job he has done with Bristol City this campaign.

The former Oldham and Barnsley boss has guided the Robins too a Carabao Cup semi final tie with Manchester City, and they were unlucky not to reach the playoffs after a poor run of results at the turn of the year.

The Robins boss is placed at 16-1 to get the job with SkyBet, who could be persuaded to join the Championship newcomers.

It’s not the first job the manager has been linked with since the close of the season.

Johnson was also linked with a move too West Brom, but it is understood the Baggies have narrowed down their options too Darren Moore and Dean Smith.

Former Sunderland boss Chris Coleman is currently favourite for the job, with Ostersunds manager Graham Potter second favourite, according to SkyBet.

Roberto Martinez and Alan Pardew are also in the running according to the bookies, so if Johnson did fancy a crack at the Swansea job – he would face incredibly tough competition.
