Hull City handed boost in pursuit of Celtic midfielder

Hull City were being linked with a summer move for Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie back in March, as per a report by the Daily Record.

The 23-year-old has spent this season on loan at Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen but it has been confirmed that he will not be joining them on a permanent deal this summer, according to the BBC.

Ryan Christie has fallen down the pecking order at Celtic Park and only has one year left on his current contract. Therefore, the Scottish giants could sell him this summer to free up some more funds.

He was linked with Championship side Hull City a couple of months ago and it will be interesting to see if the Tigers move for him over the coming months.

It is expected to be a summer of transition at the KCOM Stadium with various key first-team players like Allan McGregor, David Meyler, Abel Hernandez, Seb Larsson and Michael Dawson all out of contract. This will leave their squad down to the bare bones and they will need to find replacements in order to be competitive next season.

Christie could be a target as Nigel Adkins looks to add some more attacking options to his side in preparation for another campaign in the Championship. The Scottish midfielder has spent the past year and a half on loan at Aberdeen and has scored 14 goals in 49 games.

He joined Celtic in September 2015 having previously been at Inverness Caledonian Thistle. His time at Celtic Park could come to an end this summer, with a move to Hull City a possibility.
