Wolves favourites to sign relegated West Brom winger

Wolverhampton Wanderers are favourites to sign West Bromwich Albion winger Matt Phillips, according to odds given by bookmakers Bet Victor.

The Scottish international has just suffered relegation with the Baggies, but his performances this season have attracted interest from clubs keen to keep him in the top flight, and it seems that West Brom’s Midlands rivals Wolves are the favourites to tempt him away from the Hawthorns.

Wolves are preparing for life back in the Premier League after a brilliant first season under Nuno Santo. The Portuguese boss helped the Black Country club to the Sky Bet Championship title, picking up 99 points and only missing out on the illustrious 100 because of a defeat on the final day of the season.

The club are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the top flight, and are desperately looking for players with Premier League experience to bolster their survival chances.

Matt Phillips has experience in the top flight that extends beyond his time at West Bromwich Albion. He also played in the Premier League for Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers.

Overall, he has featured in 109 top flight games, scoring 10 and setting up 22 for his teammates. This is the kind of experience that Wolves are after, and with odds of 3/1, it seems like they stand a good chance of picking him up.

Wolves are also after experienced internationals, and Phillips ticks that box off too. Despite being born in England, Phillips has featured 11 times for Scotland, as he qualifies for them through his grandparents.
