Derby County and Aston Villa linked with PSG man

Derby County and Aston Villa are just two clubs being linked with a move for forgotten Paris Saint Germain midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa.

Bookmakers Bet Victor have given both clubs odds of 12/1 to sign the French playmaker this summer, with recently relegated West Bromwich Albion also given odds. The Baggies are 8/1 to take him to the Hawthorns.

Hatem Ben Arfa rose to fame during his time in England with Newcastle United, when he lit up the Premier League with his dazzling footwork and eccentric displays.

However, his attitude was always a slight issue, and that is something that has held him back at French giants PSG.

In the 2016/17 season, Ben Arfa featured regularly for the Ligue 1 champions, guiding them to another title, playing 32 games in all competitions.

But over summer, he fell out with a number of staff members at the Paris club, and he has not featured a single time this season.

He caused a lot of controversy during his loan spell at Hull City, when he simply just left England. Steve Bruce was in charge at Hull at the time, and the current Villa boss admitted that he had no idea where Ben Arfa had gone.

Consequently, he never played for Hull City again, and he was released from his contract at Newcastle United in January 2015.

Just a day after leaving the North East club, Ben Arfa signed a deal at French side Nice, despite knowing he wouldn’t be able to play for the rest of the season as he had already featured for two club’s in that campaign.

Ben Arfa had appeared to get his career back on track at Nice, and that sparked interest from PSG, who signed him on a free following the conclusion of his contract.
