As the season draws to a close, so are a lot of players’ contracts.
For these players, it’s a worrying time, as they wait to see whether they will be given a new deal, or whether they will be leaving the club.
In this small little series, we take a look at five current top flights players in each position that could be without a club this summer, and could potentially drop down a league to the Sky Bet Championship.
Let’s take a look at five goalkeepers we could potentially see in the second tier next year!
5) Tim Krul –
The Dutch goalkeeper’s contract at Brighton is set to expire at the end of the season, and it remains increasingly unlikely that the South Coast club will offer him a new deal. Krul joined the club from fellow Premier League side Newcastle United, but was second choice to Australian Mathew Ryan throughout the whole season, and he will be looking for a new club to kick start his career again. Although Krul is an experience top flight goalkeeper, it is difficult to see a Premier League team that requires his services, and because of this he may be tempted to drop down to the second tier.
