Experienced Nottingham Forest duo to leave the City Ground

Experienced duo Jack Hobbs and David Vaughan will leave Nottingham Forest when their contract expires in the summer, according to the Nottingham Post.

The pair will not be offered fresh terms by manager Aitor Karanka.

Both players joined the club in 2013, and have spent five years at the Reds.

Jack Hobbs joined initially signed on loan from Hull in July 2013, before making the move permanent the following January.

Vaughan joined Forest on loan from Sunderland, before signing permanently after making a positive impression at the City Ground.

The exit of Hobbs and Vaughan are expected to be the first in a long line of departures, as Karanka looks to put his stamp on the Forest side next season.

Their future was decided at a squad meeting earlier on today when Karaka told first team players who would be in his plans for next campaign.

Both have featured heavily during their time with Forest, although they have both had injury woes during their five year spell.

Hobbs has made 75 appearances since his move from Hull City, scoring a singular goal.

The 6ft 3in defender has recently overcome a career threatening back problem, which Karanka feared would bring a premature end to his playing days.

David Vaughan made 102 appearances for Forest since his move from Sunderland.

The centre midfielder also scored one goal during his time with the East Midlands club, and was a key figure in the centre of midfield.

It will be an interesting summer for Nottingham Forest fans, as Karanka will make a host of changes to his playing squad in order to challenge for promotion next season.
