Top 20 Managers of the EFL – 11th: Gary Rowett (Derby County)

Derby County head coach Gary Rowett has been voted by you as the 11th best manager in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have found that you think Rowett is the 11th best manager in the Football League. He has moved down six places from last year when he finished in 6th place.

This time the pressure was on Rowett. Last year he was given a pass as all he had to do was make the Rams competitive again after coming in halfway through the season. But this time with a full summer under his belt, Derby were expected to challenge for promotion and for maybe this to be the year where they finally make their return to the Premier League.

And while there were certainly some bumps in the road, Rowett has been able to put Derby in a great position to get promoted. There might be some disappointment that the East Midlands club weren’t in the picture for automatic promotion, Derby were always in and around the Sky Bet Championship play-off picture. And while some Derby teams in the past lost their resolve towards the end of the season, Rowett’s team was able to fight and make sure they were in the top six come the final whistle.

Derby’s season is not over yet as they will be facing Fulham in the play-off semi finals.
