Leeds United fans react to Myanmar arrival

Leeds United’s controversial post-season tour of Myanmar has begun, as the Yorkshire club landed in the war-torn country this afternoon.

Luke Ayling tweeted this picture earlier, demonstrating that the locals in Myanmar had offered the Leeds players a warm welcome.

Leeds United face a Myanmar National League All Star team tomorrow (May 9), before facing the Myanmar national team on Friday (May 11).

The Yorkshire Evening Post also reports that Leeds will be “holding football clinics with the Myanmar Football Federation Academies in the cities of Yangon and Mandalay.

A large number of first team players have not travelled with the Leeds squad to the South East Asian country for a number of reasons. Instead, it is reported that Whites boss Paul Heckingbottom will use this as an opportunity to assess the capabilities of his younger players before he decides who he wants to keep and who he wants to get rid of over the summer.

Leeds United fans were quick to share their feelings when the announcement of the tour broke, and it was the same today when their club arrived in Myanmar.
