Leeds United, Forest and Wednesday target dropped amid transfer ‘interest’

According to an article in the Nottingham Post, Peterborough United star striker Jack Marriott was dropped from the starting line-up due to interest in him from another side.

The news itself, which was reported via the club’s official Twitter account (tweet – below), said that Marriott had been dropped to the bench due to “significant interest” over recent days.

The Nottingham Post article states that Marriot is a “reported Nottingham Forest target” and that he has been linked with “a number of teams”, amongst which is Aitor Karanka’s Reds.

In all truth, Jack Marriott has had a season of all seasons, the former Ipswich striker setting League One alight for Peterborough to the tune of 27 goals and four assists. This level of performance and output was bound to turn heads, and it looks like it has done.

Marriott (above) won the League One golden Boot award and it appears that he looks destined for the Sky Bet Championship. Posh’s failure to win promotion from League One will mean that Steve Evans’ side could very well have to do without Marriott’s goals for their 2018/19 League One campaign.

Marriott has scored 33 goals in 56 appearances for Peterborough and won three awards at the clubs end-of-season ceremony earlier in the week, scooping the Player of the Year, Away Travel Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year gongs.

However, sides like Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday interested in League One hotshot Marriott better not think they might land him on a cheap deal. Peterborough owner Darragh McAnthony has said that it will take an offer above the £5 million being bandied around in the media for Posh to consider selling their biggest asset.
