Wolves targeting Euro 2016 semi-finalist

Premier League new boys Wolverhampton Wanderers are chasing Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen.

According to the Birmingham Mail’s Joe Chapman, Wolves are after the Wales international to add another body in the middle of the park.

The 28-year-old is set to leave the Potters this summer should they be relegated to Sky Bet Championship this season. With Allen being one of the most consistent performers since his arrival from Liverpool in 2016.

With more and more rumours circulating of Ruben Neves’ potential departure from the West Midlands club, Nuno will want to add bodies in the centre of the park.

It is thought that Nuno may also be interested in England international Jack Wilshere, but it is apparent that Nuno is looking to strengthen in the middle of the park.

Allen was a starter for Wales on their incredible journey at Euro 2016 which saw the Welsh make history. He played an influential role as the Red Dragons reached the competitions semi finals.

The central midfielder started his career at Welsh side Swansea City and whilst as a youngster enjoyed a loan spell at Wrexham. Since returning from that loan spell, Allen was influential in the way Swansea played under Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers.

Allen would then follow Rodgers to Liverpool in 2012 in a deal worth a reported £15 million. Allen was a constant figure in the Reds midfield under Rodgers but found game time hard to come by after the sacking of Rodgers.

It would be Stoke that would take the Welsh midfielder from Liverpool and has been an ever-present for the Potters in their midfield.

Would a move to Wolves help the Welsh midfielder kick-start his career?
