Perth Glory open talks with Barnsley star over summer move

Adam Hammill has opened talks with Perth Glory over a summer move, according to The Sun.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at Barnsley in the summer meaning he is free to leave them for nothing. He has signalled his intention to move to Australia.

Adam Hammill started his career at Liverpool but never broke into the first-team at Anfield. Instead he had loan spells at Dunfermline, Southampton, Blackpool and Barnsley before making his move to the Tykes permanent in 2009.

He had an impressive two first seasons at Barnsley and was snapped up by Wolves in the Premier League in 2011. However, he struggled to nail down a regular first-team spot at Molinuex and was loaned out to Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town.

Hammill then joined Huddersfield on a permanent deal in 2013 and spent two seasons with the Terriers before moving back to Barnsley in November 2015. He has since been a key player for them but it appears that this season will be his last in the red shirt.

A move to Australian side Perth Glory could be on the horizon for Hammill. They are the home to former Championship players such as Neil Kilkenny, Shane Lowry and Andy Keogh and Hammill could be the next to make the move down under.

It will be a shame to see Hammill leave for Barnsley fans, but their main concerns at the moment will be staying in the Championship.
