Leeds United skipper makes promise to the fans

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has promised the fans that the Whites will put on a show in their final game of the Sky Bet Championship season against QPR this weekend.

Speaking to the official Leeds United website, the skipper emphasised the importance of ending with a good performance in front of a packed out Elland Road.

He said: “As a group we are bitterly disappointed this year, it has been a tough season, but we have to go out on a high note.”

“It is not hard to get yourself up for the game, it is the last match of the season, the fans will be there in numbers and we have to put on a show and take it seriously which we will be doing.”

Leeds United have suffered an extremely disappointing season, which actually started so well for the Yorkshire club.

Hopes were high last summer, following Andrea Radrizzani’s takeover of the club, and Leeds United fans thought that with Massimo Cellino gone, it would be the start of something new at Elland Road.

Instead, it was the same old thing that Leeds supporters have been used to for years. Disappointment. Leeds United were unbeaten in their first seven games, before a defeat at Millwall, which Liam Cooper has said was the turning point in their season.

Reflecting on the campaign, Liam Cooper said how determined the squad are to turn things around next year.

“I’m looking forward to a long, hard pre-season, I can’t wait to get back in already, because we need to put things right, we are bitterly disappointed and are already looking forward to next year,” he said.
