Leeds United could lose star man this summer

It’s a difficult time to be a Leeds United fan, as emphasised by Four Four Two’s decision to rank them as the fifth most depressing football club to support in the UK.

After being promised a top six finish, the Yorkshire club are going to have to settle for mid-table. And to make matters worse, a reliable journalist from the Yorkshire Evening Post may have just dropped a hint that Leeds are going to lose one of last summer’s signings.

In his end of season review, Phil Hay awarded Samuel Saiz the signing of the season. Phil Hay was quick to insult Leeds United’s transfer business, saying “the biggest indictment of the club’s work in the transfer market is that their most effective signing in last summer’s window was the one whose season effectively signed off in January.”

And he isn’t wrong. Saiz was given a six-match suspension following a ‘spitting incident’ in an FA Cup match at Newport County, and since then it has been hard for him to stop with the antics.

There is no doubting his capabilities, but is his attitude more than Leeds United can handle?

Phil Hay certainly hints so, and it’s easy to see where he is coming from.

He writes: “In financial terms, he is a player on whom Leeds would make a decent profit if they decided to sell him on tomorrow and given the shambles this season has become, Saiz should be well down the list of expendable assets.”

So, is it worth cashing in on Saiz, or does he have more to offer the Elland Road faithful?
