Bristol City hoping to sign Yeovil pair

Bristol City are hoping to sign Yeovil Town pair Tom James and Shaun Donnellan, according to Bristol Live.

Now that the Robins’ season is over following a poor run of form, the emphasis on the recruitment can take centre stage for Lee Johnson and his team.

It appears that Bristol won’t have to look too far for their targets as they are chasing two Yeovil Town players.

With just the 42 miles between the two places, it suggests that Johnson will be looking at young and upcoming talent in England’s lower leagues.

Todd James is a versatile defender who has gained valuable experience in Yeovil’s campaign this season. The 22-year-old was brought through the Cardiff City academy and has represented the Welsh national side U19’s on two occasions.

Bristol City are not the only side interested in James who’s impressive début Football League campaign has caught the eye of both Aston Villa and Premier League side Swansea City.

Shaun Donnellan is a young central defender who signed for Yeovil in the January transfer window. The Barnet-born defender was picked up by West Bromwich Albion.

Despite never making a senior appearance for the Baggies, the youngster had several loan periods at Worcester City, Stevenage, Dagenham and Redbridge as well as Walsall.

Whilst gaining experience in the Football League with Walsall, it has been Yeovil where he has developed into the player with big potential.

Donnelllan has represented the Republic of Ireland at both U19 and U21 level.

With Johnson having such a close tie with the Dorset club having played for the Glovers between 2001 and 2006. His father Gary, and current Cheltenham Town manager, took Yeovil to the Sky Bet Championship.
