Ben Osborn wants Forest to sign this player in the summer

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn hopes that Forest sign Lee Tomlin this summer, according to the Nottingham Post.

Tomlin was part of a loan deal in the January transfer window that saw  Jamie Ward head to South-Wales and Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City.

There is no doubt that the attacking midfielder has made an impact since arriving at the City Ground, scoring four times in 13 games.

Tomlin could have added yet another last weekend but Bristol City goalkeeper Frank Fielding was able to keep out his penalty.

But Osborn is convinced that Tomlin would be a top signing if the Reds wanted to push for the Premier League:

“He offers something different. His vision is different to anything else we have got at the minute. He is a tremendous player; he can pick a pass and he has got the quality to score goals like he did against Barnsley, if you can get him in the right positions.

“If we are looking to play the way we have been doing recently, getting people between the lines, he is going to be a perfect player for that.”

“He is a player the manager knows well and I think Tommo would be happy to come here permanently as well, because he seems to be enjoying it.

“He has been playing some good stuff, so I hope it is something we would be interested in.”

Tomlin has previously worked under current Forest boss Aitor Karanka at Middlesbrough back in the 2014/2015 season. Despite signing a three-and-a-half year contract on Teeside, the Premier League beckoned for Tomlin. AFC Bournemouth took a chance on him, paying a reported £3.5 million.
