Wolves eyeing up £9 million move for Rio Ave’s Pelé

Wolves are eyeing up a £9 million move for Rio Ave midfielder Pelé, according to the Daily Mail.

Pelé, whose full name is Judilson Mamadu Tuncará Gomes, is being targeted by the Championship champions and is valued at around £9 million.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are set to sped big this summer as they look to prepare for their Premier League campaign next season. They have lured talent from Portugal this season by signing the likes of Ruben Neves and Wily Boly and Pelé could be the next to swap the sun of Portugal for the Midlands.

The 27-year-old is a Guinea-Bissau international and has impressed for Rio Ave this season in the Premeira Liga. Wolves have apparently sent scouts to watch him in recent weeks.

He started his career in Portugal with Belenenses before moving to Italy in 2011 for spells at Genoa and AC Milan. Whilst in Milan, Pelé had loan spells at Arsenal Kyiv, Olhanense and a stint back at Belenenses.

Pelé was then snapped up by Benfica in 2015, but never made a senior appearance for them. He was shipped out on loan to Pacos de Ferriera and Feirense before being signed on a permanent deal by Rio Ave in June 2017.

It would cost Wolves around £9 million to lure Pelé  away from Rio Ave but he would certainly bolster their midfield options ahead of next season.
