Norwich star set to be rewarded with new contract

According to reports, Norwich City midfielder Alexander Tetty is close to securing a new deal at Carrow Road.

Tettey is expected to sign a new two-year deal to keep him at Norwich until the summer of 2020.  The Norweigan midfielder has been one of the only stars of Norwich’s season as they are forced into yet another year in the Sky Bet Championship.

According to the Daily Mirror, the new deal will be announced this week. The new contract will increase his stay to eight years in Norfolk if he stays until it expires.

The combative midfielder has made 169 appearances for the Canaries in spells in both the Premier League and the Sky Bet Championship. During his spell at Norwich, Tettey has been an ever-present in the  Norweigan national team, who he has made 34 caps for.

Tettey started his career in his native Norway with one of the powerhouses in the country at Rosenborg. Working his way through the academy, via a loan spell to Skied Football in the second tier of Norweigan football.

He would return to Rosenborg would see him play a part in three title wins for the Troillongan, which caught the interest from some of Europe’s top leagues.

It would be Rennes that would win the race for his signature in a deal worth to be £3.5 million.  He signed a four year contract in France back in 2009 but only managed to make 81 appearances in three seasons with the club.

His time in France would then see him catch the eye of Premier League side Norwich City. Tettey would be an ever-present in the Canaries spell in the Premier League. Despite relegation to the Championship on more than one occasion, Tettey has stayed in Norfolk and become a fan favourite.
