Ipswich to let midfield ace go

Ipswich Town have confirmed that midfielder Kevin Bru has left the club after four years of service at Portman Road.

On the club’s Twitter, the Tractor Boys confirmed his departure after making just 93 appearances in four years.

The Mauritius international has not been involved in the squad since the home defeat to Cardiff City in February and has only made 10 appearances this season, playing just 469 minutes of football.

Bru moved to Ipswich in 2014 from Bulgarian side Levski Sofia for a reported £600,000.

Despite sealing a move to Portman Road, Bru was never able to establish himself in the Ipswich squad for one reason or another.

Bru started his career at French side Renne but was unable to establish himself after coming through the academy. Loan moves to  LB Chateauroux and Clermont Foot followed but a permanent move didn’t come from either of those.

Dijon FCO would take a gamble on the midfielder where he made just 27 appearances in two seasons at the club. A move to US Boulonge didn’t work out either and a move to Istres would be his final move within France.

Bulgarian side Levski Sofia signed the midfielder and he would make just 26 appearances scoring just once. This would be where he caught the eye of Mick McCarthy who took a gamble on the Paris-born midfielder. It was the summer after Ipswich had faced East Anglian rivals Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship play-off semi finals.

A real fan favourite now looks for his next adventure where a move to France appears to be on the cards.
